This page summarizes Windsor Pinnacle Limited 20/10 Warranty (document 2370590, revised July 2025, for Pinnacle products manufactured after that date; prior version February 2016). The manufacturer's document controls if anything here differs from it. Terms can change between revisions, so confirm the current version against your order paperwork.

Windsor Windows & Doors, of West Des Moines, Iowa, builds the Pinnacle clad-wood line we see in a fair number of Treasure Valley homes built in the 2000s and 2010s. We are not a Windsor dealer. We service and replace Pinnacle windows, and the warranty question comes up on nearly every call, because the answer surprises people: Windsor's material terms are solid and its labor coverage is zero. Here is the July 2025 Pinnacle document, with the February 2016 version noted where it differs, since that older version governs most of the Pinnacle units already installed here.

The 20/10 Structure

Windsor names the document for its two headline terms. Insulated glass, impact and non-impact, is warranted for twenty years not to develop any material visual obstruction as a result of premature failure of the seal. Windsor provides replacement insulated glass only, shipped F.O.B. its factory, and the document adds a note that there is no coverage for associated costs such as installation, disposal or refinishing. A replacement unit does get a fresh twenty years, which is more generous than most. Laminated and impact glass is covered for five years against delamination of the interlayer.

All other parts, meaning hardware, weatherstrip, screens and, under the 2016 document, the wood itself, are covered for ten years with no-charge replacement parts, current model substituted. Factory interior paint, stain or clear coat is two years; primed-only interiors are not covered. Every term runs from the date of manufacture, which is encoded in the glass code etched in the corner of the pane.

Finish: 2604 Standard, 2605 for Thirty

The exterior aluminum cladding finish is warranted not to peel, check, crack, blister, flake or lose adhesion. On Windsor's standard AAMA 2604 finish the term is twenty years. On the optional AAMA 2605 finish it is thirty. Fade is a defect only beyond five delta E, and chalk only beyond an ASTM rating of eight. Within a mile of salt water, 2605 is covered for ten years and 2604 not at all. Pinnacle units made under the 2016 document could also be ordered anodized, warranted for five years, or in an AAMA 2603 finish at ten, so the finish term on an older window depends on what was specified.

Wood: New Coverage, Old Windows Excluded

The July 2025 revision added something the 2016 document lacked entirely: a wood rot warranty. Pine in Pinnacle Clad windows and doors and in Pinnacle Select windows is warranted against fungal decay and termite damage for the lifetime of the original owner-occupant of a single-family home. On sale it transfers with a cap of twenty years from manufacture. Primed pine, Pinnacle Select doors, and all fir and alder are ten years, and multi-family or light commercial use is ten years with no transfer. Coverage requires proper finishing and maintenance and excludes damage from condensation.

Any Pinnacle made between February 2016 and July 2025 has no rot term. Wood was one of the other parts, at ten years, and the warranty required the unit to be finished within sixty days of installation and maintained after. That is the document most Treasure Valley Pinnacle owners are actually working under.

Labor: None

Windsor states it three times. The glass remedy excludes installation, disposal and refinishing. The first exclusion in the list is any labor for removal, repair or replacement of defective parts, products or glass, or any repainting or refinishing. The liability clause excludes the cost of installing replacements and refinishing adjacent millwork. Replacement parts ship at Windsor's expense only to the closest Windsor distributor; shipping directly to a homeowner is at the homeowner's cost. Windsor reserves the right to do warranty work itself or arrange another party, but nothing obliges it to. The lone exception in Windsor's lineup is the vinyl Next Dimension line, where a vinyl material failure is remedied with a replacement and reasonable installation labor.

Exclusions and Altitude

The forfeiture list is heavy on installation: sealant missing at the nail fin, sill flashing not run six inches up the jambs, no interior perimeter seal, synthetic stucco walls without drainage, units within eight inches of grade or in a sprinkler's path, sloped installations, and a removed unit reinstalled anywhere. Doors over seven feet without a factory multipoint lock have no warp coverage, and warp under a quarter inch is not a defect. Brass and oil-rubbed finishes wear without coverage, hardware corrodes in salt spray without coverage, and products sold by anyone other than Windsor or an authorized distributor are excluded outright. Condensation is not a defect. Installation above 5,000 feet forfeits the warranty unless high-altitude breather tubes were factory installed, and stress cracks are treated as breakage unless Windsor finds a manufacturing cause.

Transfer and Claims

The warranty is transferable to subsequent owners of the structure up to the time limits of each term, with the pine rot coverage capped at twenty years from manufacture on transfer. Claims go to the builder, then the local authorized Windsor distributor, then Windsor field service at 800-218-6186. The homeowner must furnish the glass code no later than thirty days after discovering the defect, allow Windsor to inspect before anything is removed, and accept that a site visit for a non-warranty problem may be billed. Disputes go to binding arbitration with a ninety-day opt-out.

Wood Windows cannot open a Windsor claim. What we do is the part Windsor does not: reglaze a Pinnacle whose glass has fogged, replace a rotted sash on a 2010 unit with no rot coverage, or quote a clad-wood replacement from the lines we carry and service ourselves. Call (208) 376-2200.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Windsor cover labor on Pinnacle warranty repairs?

No, and the document says it three ways. The glass remedy is replacement insulated glass only, shipped F.O.B. the factory, with a note that there is no coverage for installation, disposal or refinishing. The first item in the exclusion list is any labor for removal, repair or replacement of defective parts, products or glass, or any repainting or refinishing. And the liability clause excludes the cost of installing replacements. Parts ship free to the closest Windsor distributor; shipping straight to a homeowner is at the homeowner's expense. Windsor's vinyl Next Dimension line is the one exception, where Windsor pays installation labor on a vinyl material failure. For a Pinnacle in the Treasure Valley, the labor is the homeowner's, which is where we come in.

Is the Windsor finish warranty 20 or 30 years?

Both, depending on the paint. Windsor's standard exterior aluminum finish meets AAMA 2604 and is warranted for 20 years not to peel, check, crack, blister, flake or lose adhesion. The optional AAMA 2605 finish extends that to 30 years. Fade is covered only beyond 5 delta E and chalk only beyond an ASTM rating of 8 on either finish. Within a mile of salt water, only 2605 is covered, for 10 years. Units made before July 2025 could also carry an anodized finish at 5 years or an AAMA 2603 finish at 10, so the year of manufacture on the glass code matters.

Is the Pinnacle wood warranted against rot?

Only on units made after July 2025. The current document warrants pine in Pinnacle Clad windows and doors and Pinnacle Select windows against fungal decay and termite damage for the lifetime of the original owner-occupant of a single-family home, transferring on sale with a 20-year cap from the manufacture date. Primed pine, Pinnacle Select doors, and all fir and alder are 10 years. The February 2016 document that governs most Pinnacle windows now in Treasure Valley homes has no wood rot coverage at all; wood was simply one of the other parts at 10 years, conditioned on proper finishing. Bare wood must be finished within 60 days under both documents.

Are Windsor windows covered at high altitude in Idaho?

To 5,000 feet, yes. Above that, the warranty is forfeited unless high-altitude breather tubes were factory installed; Windsor's term is breather tubes rather than capillary tubes, but it is the same device. Boise and the valley are well under the line. McCall, Sun Valley and the higher mountain towns are over it, so a Pinnacle there needed tubes at the factory to keep its glass coverage. Windsor does not warrant the argon percentage, and it treats stress cracks as breakage unless it determines the crack came from a manufacturing defect.

How do I make a Windsor warranty claim, and can Wood Windows help?

Windsor routes claims through the builder first, then the local authorized Windsor distributor, then Windsor field service. You must furnish the glass code etched in the corner of the pane, which carries the manufacture date, no later than 30 days after discovering the defect, and Windsor may charge for a site visit that turns out not to be a warranty matter. The West Des Moines office is 800-218-6186. Wood Windows is not a Windsor dealer and cannot file the claim, but we repair and replace Windsor Pinnacle windows and doors across the Treasure Valley, and since Windsor never pays labor, most Pinnacle owners end up needing a local crew even on a covered part.
