Milgard Warranty in 2026: What Changed, What Is Standard, What You Buy

Terms below are taken directly from the manufacturer's written limited warranty. All periods run from the date of purchase from the retailer or dealer.

For years the Milgard pitch wrote itself: Full Lifetime Warranty, parts and labor, glass breakage included, on the Tuscany line especially. That pitch is out of date. Effective January 1, 2026, Milgard rewrote its warranties around the manufacture date of the unit, made the Lifetime Limited Warranty the standard on every series, and turned the Full Lifetime Warranty into a paid upgrade available on three lines. We sell a lot of Milgard, and we would rather you hear this from us than from a service technician. Here is what the current documents say, and what still applies to windows you already own.

The Standard Warranty Since January 2026

Milgard publishes two nearly identical standard documents, one for replacement product going into an existing structure and one for new construction. For the original owner-occupant, both warrant the frame and panel material, vinyl or fiberglass, for the lifetime of ownership against excessive blistering, chipping, cracking, peeling, corroding or pitting that affects normal use. Hardware is ten years, with stainless steel corrosion at one. Painted, powder-coat and Capstock finishes are ten years, as are laminated and impact glass delamination, blinds between glass and simulated divided lites. Weatherstrip and screens are one year.

The glass term is where the two documents split. In a replacement installation, the insulated glass seal is covered for twenty years against material obstruction of vision from dust, moisture or chemical outgassing inside the unit. In new construction, the same coverage is ten years. Stress cracks are one year under both, and glass breakage is excluded.

Everyone who is not the original owner-occupant, meaning later buyers of the home, landlords, HOAs, trusts, builders and commercial owners, gets the 10-Year Limited Warranty for All Other Owners: ten years from the manufacture date on everything, frame included.

Labor Under the Standard Warranty

Milgard's standard labor provision is better than most vinyl makers offer. For claims made within ten years of the manufacture date, if the home is inside Milgard's Service Territory, Milgard provides the skilled labor necessary to complete the remedy or pays the shipping. Idaho, including Boise and Garden City, is inside the territory. Skilled labor is defined as work that, in Milgard's sole judgment, requires special knowledge or tools an owner does not have. Replacing hardware is the document's own example of what does not qualify. No labor is owed when Milgard supplies a complete replacement unit, and anything above a fifteen-foot ladder needs an owner-supplied lift. Milgard performs this work with its own factory-trained technicians, so on a labor claim the person at your door may be from Milgard rather than from us.

The Full Lifetime Warranty Upgrade

The upgrade must be purchased at the time of the original sale and appear on Milgard's order documents; if it was not selected, or the series did not offer it, the standard warranty applies. Milgard offers it on Trinsic V300, Tuscany V400 and the C700 fiberglass series only. Style Line V250, V450, the Ultra C650 and the moving glass wall systems cannot be upgraded.

What it buys, for the original consumer owner-occupant inside the Service Territory: lifetime coverage on frame material, glass seal, hardware and, the headline, non-specialty glass breakage, plus all labor necessary to complete any remedy for life. Breakage from storage, handling, installation, settlement, fire or earthquake is excluded, and specialty glass such as V-Groove, laminated glass, blinds between glass and garden window glass is never covered for breakage. The finish, weatherstrip and screen terms stay at ten and one years. If Milgard cannot fix a unit after a reasonable number of tries, the owner may choose a replacement or a refund.

The upgrade is not transferable. Sell the house, rent it out or move out, and the coverage lapses back to the ten-year terms.

Windows Sold Before 2026

Milgard's older documents were keyed to the sale date, not manufacture, so the boundary for orders placed in late 2025 can be ambiguous, and Milgard's own tool asks whether you bought before or after January 1, 2026. Tuscany and Trinsic sold from April 2021 through 2025 carry the Full Lifetime Warranty as standard, with glass breakage included on Tuscany and, from July 2024, V450, and optional on Trinsic. Style Line and V450 were covered by Full Lifetime only if the upgrade was purchased. Ultra C650 fiberglass and Style Line without the upgrade carried a Lifetime Limited Warranty with a lifetime mainframe, twenty years on glass and components, and ten years of skilled labor. Patio doors follow the warranty of their series. If we sold your windows, we have the order and can tell you exactly which document governs.

Exclusions and Claims

The exclusion list is standard for vinyl and fiberglass, with a few Milgard-specific items: caulking between the window and the cladding or trim is owner maintenance, panels must be operated monthly, wind-driven rain in high-wind events is excluded, and aluminum touching concrete, steel or ACQ-treated lumber voids coverage on the affected part. Condensation, tinting films, field paint or sealant, power washing and gradual fading are all out.

Claims go directly to Milgard, within thirty days of discovering the condition, at milgard.com/service-request or 1-800-645-4273, with the order number, a description per product and photographs. Milgard has no obligation to provide a remedy until the claim is complete. We file with you and pull the order number from our records; call (208) 376-2200 first.
