The Series 6100 is the window All Weather Architectural Aluminum built to answer the objection everyone raises about aluminum: that it cannot meet a modern energy code. It is the flagship of the Vacaville lineup, the window on display in our Garden City showroom, and the one we specify when a Treasure Valley architect wants the thin sightlines and true black frame that only aluminum delivers. What It Is
A 3¾-inch-deep frame extruded from 6063-T6 aluminum, split by a glass-fiber-reinforced polyamide thermal strut so the interior and exterior metal never touch. Casement, awning and fixed configurations, with casements to 48 by 96 inches on a commercial-grade operator and fixed units to 60 square feet. Concealed hinges, three lines of weatherstrip, and a choice of 1-inch dual-pane or 1¼-inch triple-pane glazing built in All Weather's own insulating glass line with Cardinal or Vitro Low-E coatings. Simulated divided lites at 1 inch and true divided lites at 3 3/16 inch for traditional grids. Nail-on or block frames.
The structural numbers are strong for a residential window: C-PG60 for casements and awnings, LC-PG70 for fixed, tested air infiltration under 0.03 cfm per square foot on operables and under 0.01 on fixed units, and water resistance from 9 to 12 psf. Sound transmission class runs to 41 with the right glass.
The Numbers That Matter in Idaho
NFRC-certified U-factors on 1-inch dual-pane glass run 0.25 to 0.37 on fixed units, 0.31 to 0.41 on casements and 0.32 to 0.42 on awnings, with solar heat gain coefficients of 0.18 to 0.24 using Solarban 70 or LoE-366. The triple-glazed casement reaches 0.24. All Weather designed the line to hit California's Title 24 prescriptive U-factor of 0.30, and it does on fixed glass and triple-pane operables.
Read those numbers against our usual advice. We treat 0.30 as the floor for a Treasure Valley home, and a dual-pane 6100 casement sits above it. The way to specify aluminum here is to put the operables where you need ventilation, glaze them triple, put fixed 6100 lites everywhere the view is, and let us run the whole-house UA calculation that shows the building department the total assembly meets code. That is the performance path, it is legitimate, and it is how every aluminum-window house in Boise's foothills got its permit.
Where It Fits, and Where It Does Not
The 6100 belongs on a modern or mid-century home where the frame is part of the design: a bench-edge contemporary with a wall of fixed glass, a Hyde Park remodel returning to steel-look proportions, a commercial-grade look on a residential budget. Dark bronze anodized is the finish that sells it, because unlike dark vinyl it does not bow in sun and unlike painted wood it never needs a brush. It pairs with All Weather's multi-slide and bifold doors for a matched aluminum package across the back of a house.
Where we steer people elsewhere: a whole-house replacement in a 1990s subdivision, where a Milgard or Andersen 100 Series delivers 0.27 U-factor for less money and with an ENERGY STAR label; any project chasing an Idaho Power rebate, since All Weather does not carry the label; and a historic wood home under design review, where the reviewers will want wood. Finishes, Glass and Lead Times
Clear and dark bronze Class I anodizing are the stocked finishes. Kynar paint in custom colors is available on order with longer lead times and added cost, and it carries All Weather's twenty-year finish warranty against ten years for standard paint. Glass options span the Cardinal LoE-270, 366 and i89 coatings, Vitro Solarban 60 and 70, argon, tempered, laminated and a full set of decorative patterns. Windows ship from Vacaville assembled and glazed. We install every unit with our own employee crews, and warranty service on any All Weather product we sell runs through our Garden City office; the warranty itself is ten years on parts and one year on labor.

Why would I choose aluminum windows in Idaho's climate?
For the look and the glass area, with eyes open about the numbers. A thermally broken aluminum frame is narrow, rigid and dimensionally stable, so a Series 6100 casement holds more glass per opening than any vinyl or wood window we sell, and it takes a true black or bronze anodized finish that never needs paint. The price of that is thermal performance: operable 6100 units land at 0.31 to 0.41 U-factor with dual-pane Low-E, above the 0.30 figure we treat as the floor for a Treasure Valley home. We close the gap with triple glazing on the operables, big fixed lites where the view is, and a whole-house UA calculation that shows the inspector the assembly meets code. If the architecture calls for aluminum, this is how to do it responsibly.
How does the Series 6100 differ from All Weather's Series 6000 and 5000?
Frame depth and the thermal break. The 6100 is All Weather's Ultimate Performance window, with a 3¾-inch frame, a glass-fiber-reinforced polyamide thermal strut, concealed hinges and three lines of weatherstrip, built to meet California's Title 24 prescriptive 0.30 U-factor. The Series 6000 is a 2½-inch frame with a conventional thermal strut and a higher PG80 structural rating, and the 5000 is a 2¼-inch pour-and-debridge frame at PG50. The 6100 is the one to choose when energy numbers matter most; the 6000 when a narrower frame or an impact rating matters more.
Do All Weather windows qualify for ENERGY STAR?
No. All Weather does not claim ENERGY STAR on any product, and we do not either. Its energy claims are NFRC ratings and California Title 24 compliance. That matters for Idaho Power and utility rebate programs that key on the ENERGY STAR label, so if a rebate is part of your budget, a Marvin or Andersen unit with the label is the safer route. The 6100's NFRC numbers are real and printed on every unit; the label is what it lacks.
What finishes are available on the Series 6100?
Two stocked finishes and a custom option. Class I clear anodized and Class I dark bronze anodized are standard and carried in inventory. Kynar 70 percent PVDF paint in custom colors is available on order, with longer lead times and added cost, and it is the finish All Weather warrants for twenty years. Dual-color frames, a different finish inside and out, are not offered on the 6100. If you want a specific black or white, ask us about Kynar at quote time rather than assuming anodized will match.
