Below the flagship Series 6100 in All Weather Architectural Aluminum's catalog sit two narrower windows that share its material and its look: the Series 6000, which All Weather calls Superior Performance, and the Series 5000, Enhanced Performance. Both are thermally broken aluminum casement, awning and fixed windows in Class I anodized finishes. They differ in frame depth, structural rating and how much glass they can carry, and they occupy a specific place in a Treasure Valley project. Here is what each is and when we reach for it.
Series 6000: The Structural One
The 6000 is a 2½-inch frame with a 20 mm thermal strut and mechanically crimped corners. Casements go to 36 by 72 inches, fixed units to 60 square feet. It glazes 1-inch dual-pane or up to 1½-inch triple-pane, which is the thickest glass any All Weather window accepts. Its structural testing is what sets it apart: an AW-PG80 rating on fixed and awning units, design pressure of plus or minus 90 psf, air infiltration under 0.01 cfm per square foot and water resistance of 12.11 psf. Those are architectural-window numbers.
It is also the only All Weather window with Miami-Dade impact approvals, at DP80 for casements, DP45 for awnings and DP35 for fixed units with laminated glass. Idaho does not require impact glass, but the specification has uses here: security on a ground-floor rear wall, sound control on a busy Eagle Road frontage, and hail resistance on a west exposure.
NFRC U-factors on dual-pane glass run 0.26 to 0.35 on fixed units and 0.37 to 0.45 on casements and awnings, with SHGC from 0.18 to 0.34 depending on coating.
Series 5000: The Value One
The 5000 is a 2¼-inch pour-and-debridge frame with mitered, welded corners. Casements go to 36 by 60 inches, fixed to 50 square feet, and it adds a hopper style the 6000 does not offer. Glazing is 1-inch dual-pane only. It rates C-PG50 operable and C-PG60 fixed, which is a solid residential rating, and reaches STC 41 with the right glass. U-factors run 0.28 to 0.37 fixed and 0.42 to 0.49 on casements and awnings.
It is the entry point to aluminum at All Weather, and it looks nearly identical to the 6000 from the street. The difference shows up in the spec sheet and in a stiff wind.
Where They Fit in Idaho
We want to be direct about the thermal numbers. An operable Series 6000 or 5000 with dual-pane glass sits between 0.37 and 0.49 U-factor, well above the 0.30 figure we treat as the floor for a Treasure Valley home and above what a mid-grade vinyl casement delivers. The frames are narrow and rigid and the anodized finish is permanent, and those are the reasons to buy them; efficiency is not.
So the fit is a design-led project: a modern home with a few operables and a lot of fixed glass, where the 6000's 0.26 fixed U-factor carries the whole-house calculation; a wind- or rain-exposed wall where PG80 is worth having; or a matched aluminum package with All Weather's multi-slide or bifold doors. Finishes, Warranty and Service
Both series ship in Class I clear or dark bronze anodized as standard, with Kynar paint in custom colors on order. All Weather's residential warranty is ten years on parts and one year on labor for the original purchaser, with twenty years on Kynar paint. What is the difference between the All Weather Series 6000 and Series 5000?
The 6000 is the stronger, more flexible window; the 5000 is the value entry. Both are thermally broken aluminum, but the 6000 uses a 20 mm thermal strut with mechanically crimped corners, carries an AW-PG80 structural rating, takes triple glazing to 1½ inches, and is the only All Weather window with Miami-Dade impact approvals. Are these windows a good fit for a Treasure Valley home?
For a particular kind of home. Both series are narrow-frame aluminum built for a contemporary look, and both give up thermal performance to vinyl and wood: an operable dual-pane unit lands well above 0.30 U-factor. Where they earn a place is a modern design that wants the thinnest possible frame, a project mixing large fixed lites with a few operables so the whole-house calculation works, or a wall exposed to wind and rain where the 6000's PG80 rating matters. Do All Weather Series 6000 windows carry an impact rating?
Yes, and it is the only residential All Weather window that does. Impact-rated 6000 configurations carry Miami-Dade approvals at DP80 for casements, DP45 for awnings and DP35 for fixed units with laminated glass. Idaho has no hurricane code, so the rating matters here mainly for security, sound and hail: laminated impact glass is hard to break through, cuts sound transmission, and shrugs off the kind of hail that cracks annealed glass. It is a niche specification and we quote it on request.
