What Vivid Actually Is
Vivid is the first new collection Marvin has launched in years, announced September 30, 2025 and rolled out first in seven western states — Idaho among them — before wider release. The recipe: Ultrex pultruded fiberglass on the exterior, the same material as Essential and Elevate, paired with an interior extruded from a fiberglass-reinforced composite Marvin developed specifically for this line. Both faces carry an acrylic-based finish, and the interior profiles are engineered without the overlaps and joint welds that show on cheaper composite windows.
Marvin's own framing is that Vivid "rounds out the portfolio." Translated: dealers and builders asked for a fiberglass window that looked contemporary, came in bigger sizes, and didn't require a wood interior to get there. Essential was too traditional in profile and limited in size; Elevate carried a wood interior many modern builds don't want. Vivid is the answer to both complaints in one product. It's not a Signature-tier line — think of it as Essential's contemporary sibling, not a cheaper Ultimate.
The Numbers That Matter
Vivid windows certify up to PG50 for air, water, and structural performance, and the reinforced factory mull meets AAMA 450 at PG50 on standard products. That's a meaningful step above the PG30–40 range common on vinyl replacement windows.
Sizes are where the line separates itself: casements to 3 feet 6 inches wide by 8 feet tall, awnings to 6 feet by 5 feet, direct glaze to 10 feet in either width or height, and specialty shapes to 60 square feet. On the door side, the sliding door runs up to four panels and 16 feet wide (PG40), the bi-fold reaches seven panels and 22 feet, and the swinging door completes the set.
Glass is a full Marvin menu: standard dual-pane with argon in Low-E1, Low-E2, or Low-E3, ERS room-side coatings for colder rooms, and factory triple-pane on every unit. Marvin states the collection meets or exceeds ENERGY STAR Version 7 with the right package. We are not publishing a U-factor range for Vivid: NFRC listings are still filling in for a line this new, and the honest answer is to read the label on your specific configuration at quote time. Expect casements with Low-E3 and argon to land where Essential casements do; triple-pane will get you well under the 0.30 target we use for zone 5B.

Where It Fits in Idaho — and Where It Doesn't
The natural home for Vivid is the wave of transitional and modern-farmhouse construction across Meridian, Kuna, and Star, and the contemporary infill going up on the Boise Bench and in Garden City: black or bronze exteriors, tall casements, big fixed glass, and a homeowner who wants low maintenance more than stained wood. For that buyer it is a genuinely better-looking window than Essential at a similar price, and the PG50 rating handles the open-field wind that new Canyon County subdivisions get.
Where it doesn't fit, yet: a 1990s two-story where the existing openings are double-hungs or gliders. Vivid doesn't make those, so a whole-house replacement in that stock either mixes in Essential (same Ultrex exterior colors, so it matches) or goes Essential throughout. A North End bungalow needing divided lites and traditional profiles is Elevate or Ultimate territory. And a homeowner who wants wood inside should skip straight to Elevate.
One more honest caveat: this is a first-generation product. We've installed Ultrex for decades; we've installed Vivid interiors for about a year. We like what we see — tight joints, clean corners, hardware that feels like Marvin's — but we'd be misleading you to claim a long track record for the composite.
Warranty and Service, Locally
Vivid carries Marvin's limited warranty on the same terms as its other fiberglass collections: 20 years on insulated glass, 10 years on non-glass components, with the finish covered separately. Where does Marvin Vivid sit between Essential and Elevate?
Squarely between them, leaning toward Essential on price. Essential is Ultrex fiberglass inside and out with a traditional profile set. Vivid keeps the Ultrex exterior but swaps in a smoother composite interior, thinner contemporary profiles, and much larger sizes — an 8-foot-tall casement versus Essential's more conventional limits. Elevate is the step up to a real wood interior. If you want wood, Vivid isn't it; if you want clean and dark and big, Vivid is the better-looking Essential.
What can't I get in Marvin Vivid yet?
As of fall 2026: no double-hung, single-hung, or glider windows, no bay or bow units, no wood interior, and a four-color exterior palette with two interior colors. The product list has grown since the 2025 launch — specialty shapes and the bi-fold door were added — and Marvin has said more is coming. For a traditional two-story that needs double-hungs, Essential or Elevate fills the gaps and matches Vivid's exterior colors.
How much does Marvin Vivid cost installed?
Expect quotes to land in the same neighborhood as Essential and below Elevate — roughly $900 to $1,500 per window installed for typical replacement sizes, more for the oversized casements and direct glaze the line is built around. Is Vivid a proven product or an experiment?
The exterior is proven: Ultrex is the same pultruded fiberglass Marvin has used since the 1990s on Essential and Elevate. The interior composite is new — it launched in September 2025 — so nobody has 20-year field data on it. We're comfortable selling it because Marvin backs it with the same limited warranty as its other fiberglass lines and because the failure modes we see in Idaho (seal stress and sun warping) are exterior problems that Ultrex already solves.
